Music Classroom Listening Center

My students need a comprehensive listening center in our music classroom which includes a wireless listening and storage center.

My Students

My classroom involves singing, instrumental and movement activities. The students I teach are proficient in reading, playing, and moving to music. Limited resources can hinder this process. "Music is what feelings sound like." My students get a chance to express their feelings musically every class.

My students are a group of urban children who are excited about music.

Many come from low socioeconomic households. However, they come eager to learn and grow. We are a small school with limited resources, and our teachers run the spectrum when it comes to years of experience, however, they are extremely enthusiastic and dedicated to students' success.

My Project

I would love to set up a music listening center similar to a reading center with a wireless station and storage center. Students would have to opportunity to sample various genres of music, complete individual listening assignments or assessments, and perfect their aural skills on an individual level. It will ultimately make them better listeners of music and better vocalist as they perfect and train their ears.

I believe every student that has the experience to use this listening center will have access to a diverse musical experience.

It will give them the opportunity to listen to and understand music of different cultures, ultimately making them more knowledgeable and sensitive to the world around them. They will also be able to perfect the art of expression through music which is healthy for the mind, body, and soul.
