Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in a very diverse community, which includes students from many different ethnic, monetary, and academic backgrounds. The students are in grades six through eight. We have a very large special education population and I have some of these students in my Band and Chorus Classes. Teaching music in this type of environment is quite challenging, but it also has many rewards.

My school is very limited on the monetary contributions it can bring to our music program. The emphasis on standardized testing is great, so most of the school budget goes to support the core academic courses. Fundraising is never enough, so my students and I must rely on donations in order to keep our program going.

Items such as professional CD players, new or used music instruments, and funds to be used on instrument repairs are the most crucial needs of our music program. This project can be a great source of support for our program. My students will definitely benefit from the donations received by having the right tools for learning. Just like the academic classes do!

You can make a big difference in the music education of my students. Help them achieve success by contributing to the complete education that they deserve.
