There are approximately 200 instrumental music students at our middle school this year in various ensembles and classes. It's wonderful to see a large number taking beginning winds and experiencing the joys of learning a brass, wind or percussion instrument for the very first time. My beginning strings class is another large class this year -- they are getting their first experiences with violins, violas, cellos and basses. I also direct 2 bands and a string orchestra.
My Project
Our instrumental music students are so excited to be back in the classroom making music, but they need new books to learn to play.
My beginning winds, brass and percussion student musicians require method books to guide them during class and at home.
Our current set of books is in disrepair and is missing volumes. Students are learning a variety of instruments--flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, french horn, baritone, tuba and percussion. These books will be used in the classroom during class time and also taken home so the kids can practice with them at home.
