Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school in Houston and provides instruction to over 800 students of all different backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles. Every student is as unique as our diverse population.
We have a thriving Vanguard Magnet Program, a Dual Language Program, and specialized instruction for students with Autism.
Each student receives instruction in their core subject areas, but also Visual Arts, Music, Physical Education, and STEAM. Although we have fantastic opportunities we need to be able to reach every student with materials we simply don't have enough of, especially with the new virtual component added in.
My Project
I currently do not have a home office or space to teach our students. I have put together all the extra furniture in my house to make a desk area for filming and teaching. I do not have mobile speakers or power strips to keep everything in working order.
Once we are finished teaching at home, these items will go to school to continue to help create a comfortable space for teaching for years to come.
Please consider donating to my teaching space as we are trying to navigate these uncharted waters.
