Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach music in an elementary school serving Kindergarten through 5th grade. I also teach an after school choir and a music club. My students love music. They are eager to learn about new technology and new ways of creating music.

My students are from a low economic area.

Many of them do not have access to technology at home. Many do not even have access to a computer other than at school. Many also have not been exposed to a wide range of music outside of the school. I want to bring a variety of musical experiences to my students through the use of technology.

My Project

I am working on putting together an Ipad center for my students so that they can work on composition. There are many wonderful music apps out there that they can benefit from. They can use them for listening to music from around the world, exploring instruments and instrument sounds, and becoming composers themselves. Eventually, I would like to have enough for a classroom set so that all of the students can learn together. Once I have enough IPADS I also would like to start an after school club where students can learn more about the music profession and composition.

Your donation will help my students to gain skills in technology that will be essential when they are older.

It will also help to open their minds to new experiences through music.
