This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach music at a middle school in Chicago. Our school is focused on STEM education, aiming to integrate STEM concepts into all subjects. To further this goal, I'm requesting 10 Microbits for my general music classes.

By using Microbits, students will gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between music and technology.

Students will learn to use coding to control sound, light, and movement, and how to create interactive musical experiences. This will enhance their musical skills and develop problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.

With the Microbits, students will explore musical concepts through coding. They will create original melodies, experiment with sound, and learn about pitch and rhythm. Additionally, students will sample sounds, collaborate in musical ensembles, and remix each other's work. By incorporating coding into music activities, this will enhance student's understanding of technology, electrical circuits, and engineering principles, while fostering creativity and critical thinking.
