My Students

My class has 18 students mostly from low-income households. Many children are from other countries and are not native English language speakers. All of my children are excited and eager to learn and make new friends. We want to make sure that we can provide a structured environment for them. Most of the children in my class are limited to the activities or resources needed in order to develop their cognitive, social, and emotional skills.

Children need many different materials and activities to stimulate and build their learning and development.

There are not enough quality items to learn through cooperative play. Unfortunately, our budget doesn't provide the money to buy all the things we need. Therefore, I am excited to partner with DonorsChoose.org and hope to provide an enriching Pre-k experience for my class.

My Project

Children learn a lot through music and we want to make sure that we provide our children with many different opportunities to explore and play with music. We choose various musical instrument kits that would make a great addition to our classroom music center.

Music and movement is an important part of early childhood

development. During center time, children can play in the music center and explore making rhythm and music with many different instruments. They have the opportunity to create sounds and collaborate with other children to create their own musical songs. We want to provide children with an opportunity to explore the music of the world, with the "Latin American musical kit" the children can create beautiful rhythms and sounds from Latin America. The Rhythm band set will encourage children to participate and learn techniques to create rhythms individually or as a group. The musical washboard is a perfect way to introduce rhythm effects for all sorts of styles of music.
