My Project

Dance, music and movement are all a universal language which connects individuals across the world. My students are in need of music instruments, dance games, gross motor equipment and other learning materials that will help develop their communication skills.

Allowing my students, who have different developmental needs, the opportunity to learn life long skills such as various modes of communication through interactive songs and rhythms that strengthen their growing bodies will have a lasting impact on themselves and society as a whole.

The majority of dancers and musicians at our school were born with developmental delays (cognitive and physical), traits of autism and learning disabilities as well as speech impairment. My students are naturally interested in the world around them and seek opportunities to communicate with the people and activities in their environment.

The materials donated in this project will help students connect with each other through music as well as express themselves in dance related games and lessons. Students will be using equipment to make rhythms and learn about Call and Response cues. The dance wrist ribbons and bells will be a great accompaniment in movement explorations and games. Emotions pictures and Cards will help students build their social emotional development as well as strengthening the relationships they have with others in their community.
