My Students

The thrill of keeping the beat to Bach or Bizet or trying to paint in the style of Monet or O'Keeffe awaits my kindergarten students. They will explore various artists' styles, use different art media, listen to classical music and learn about the musicians' and artists' lives through stories.

My students are enthusiastic learners who seem to always want to know more.

They love learning about real things, and non-fiction books are their favorites. Our school is large with almost 1000 students. Parents are generally supportive of their children's learning environment and help the school with various projects. Parents and teachers work long hours to make our school a better place.

My Project

This project offers hands-on activities for kindergarten students to discover the arts. After learning about an artist and his/her works, the children will explore the artist's style by creating his/her own art work using various art media. While listening to classical music, the students could tap rhythm instruments, swirl scarves, or sway their bodies to the beat. The students would learn about great artists and composers through picture books, art prints, videos, and CDs. Integrating the arts with the curriculum will stimulate their minds, encourage exploration, and provide a creative outlet for the students to express themselves. The students will have multiple chances to experiment and discover as they develop enthusiasm for the exciting word of fine arts which might affect their lives far into the future.

Donations to support this project will help make a difference by giving kindergartners exposure to the exciting world of fine arts.

Planting seeds for art and music appreciation can have far reaching results. Tapping into a student's learning style can turn him/her on to learning for a lifetime. The possible impact is exciting to contemplate!
