Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

If fully funded, I will transform my science classroom into a space where students can nurture both their minds and well-being by setting up a dedicated Self-Care Corner. I plan on building this corner with the following in mind:

1.

Comfortable Seating and Ambiance: I will add bean bags, soft cushions, and rugs to create a cozy, inviting space where students feel safe and relaxed.

2. Mindfulness and Stress-Relief Tools Supplies like fidget toys, stress balls, and sensory items will help students channel their energy, focus their minds, and reduce anxiety. I also plan to stock journals, colored pencils, and art supplies to encourage mindfulness through drawing or writing.

3. Inspirational Resources The corner will include posters and cards with motivational quotes, stickers, and calming strategies, helping students build resilience and emotional intelligence.

4. Aromatherapy, Soothing Elements, and Snacks Essential oil diffusers and gentle scents like lavender or eucalyptus can create a calming environment, helping students manage stress. I plan to include small plants or nature-inspired elements, like a small tabletop fountain, to promote relaxation through nature’s calming effect. I also plan to have secluded hygiene and health care products, snacks, and water. My goal as an educator is to provide more than just a learning environment; I want to create a supportive space where students can prioritize their mental and emotional well-being, making them more confident and capable learners. Your support will have a lasting impact on their ability to navigate stress and cultivate a balanced approach to their studies and personal lives.
