My Students

Can you imagine what it would be like if you couldn't write? The students that I work with have fine motor problems that keep them from writing and sharing their experiences. The materials that I'm requesting use music and other multi-sensory methods to help these students learn to write!

The students that I work with are diagnosed with Autism, Asperger Syndrome, Down Syndrome, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy and many other disorders.

We are in the state of Tennessee and our resources are limited. These children deserve the best and my hope is that providing this resource will open many doors for these special students.

My Project

I am requesting the upper and lower case letter musical beat DVD’s that provide visual, rhythmical, and repetitious input for handwriting instruction. I am also requesting the multi-sensory workbooks that cover shapes, numbers and letters. These products are fun and have been proven effective for children with special needs! Using these materials will help the students learn to write their letters and put the letters together to form words. My ultimate hope for this project is that as these special needs students learn to write functionally, their functional vocabularies will expand, and as the students become functional writers and communicators, they will become more independent citizens. This will not only benefit the students, but the community as a whole.
