My Project

Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students often face unique challenges in traditional classrooms. These challenges can include difficulties with auditory learning, fatigue from constant visual attention, and limited mobility due to seating options. Furthermore, the rigid structure can hinder social interaction and collaboration. Bean bag chairs can significantly improve the learning experience for these students in several ways.

First, bean bag chairs offer a comfortable and supportive seating option that can alleviate physical discomfort and fatigue while also promoting flexibility and movement.

DHH students may experience increased stress and anxiety due to the constant effort required to focus on visual cues, lipreading, and sign language interpretation. By providing a more relaxed and comfortable seating option, bean bag chairs can reduce physical strain and improve overall well-being, allowing students to focus on learning.

Second, bean bag chairs foster a sense of comfort and relaxation, creating a less intimidating learning space. This can be particularly beneficial for Deaf students who may feel anxious or overwhelmed in a highly structured environment.

The goal of this project is to enhance the learning experience for DHH students by providing a more comfortable, flexible, and inclusive classroom setting. By incorporating bean bag chairs, we aim to: 1) Improve focus and attention by allowing students to find comfortable and supportive seating positions. 2) Reduce anxiety and stress levels, creating a more relaxed and welcoming learning environment. 3) Enhance social interaction and collaboration by facilitating a more accessible environment. DHH students are unique and talented individuals with a rich culture and language. They possess exceptional visual-spatial skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of communication and collaboration. By providing them with a learning environment that supports their unique needs, we can empower them to reach their full potential and become successful, contributing members of society.
