My Project
Multipurpose and disc golf nets will help us learn and increase many fundamental skills in sports, such as: Pickleball, Tennis, Badminton, Soccer, Disc Golf and Volleyball. Striking and fielding games can help to improve coordination, reaction time, strength, power, and agility, which can help to build a strong foundation for physical fitness.
Access to sports should be a universal right for kids, but unfortunately, even schools have issues with access that are dependent on socioeconomic status.
There are a lot of hidden ways that sports becomes inaccessible to many aspiring athletes. Our school is an Equity Focus and Title One school as we teach in an underserved community, where all our students receive free lunch. We are grateful for new supplies and experiences. Most of our physical education supplies come from donations because we don't have an established and well funded PTA, or an yearly budget.
Our goal is to increase active and reluctant learner's (students with body composition issues, that keeps them from being active for long periods of time) participation by providing the opportunity to learn Disc Golf. This is a great way for reluctant learners to build up fitness levels while learning a new game. Providing all students with exposure to different sports is impactful and we can only do that through donations. Bringing new sports to the our school will aid with improving sportsmanship, character-building, and clean and healthy performance, while also creating leaders across communities through sport.
