This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember struggling to learn the multiplication facts using ONLY flashcards, paper and pencil? Help make math fun for kids by giving them different activities and realia as a tool to learn difficult concepts.

My students come very different diverse backgrounds.

I have three students who are white and eighteen who are Hispanic. Most students are low socio-economic and English Language learners. Students have a difficult time mastering concepts from textbooks and/or paper pencil activities. Students need multiple ways/activities as a support to master concepts.

My Project

Multiplication facts are very difficult for students to memorize and are very important in order to learn other math concepts. Multiplication facts will be used on a daily basis during their lifetime. Students need different modalities and strategies to grasp concepts. The The boring task of multiplication can be made more fun through music, games and activities that reinforce repetition of the math facts. The three point flashcards will help students see the relationship between multiplication and division. The games will help create different real-life situations. The music cd with help make it fun and connect movements to learning for those students who are kinesthetic learners. The five electric games will be used to send home for those students who need something other than book, paper, pencil homework activities. Multiplication facts are vital and these resources will support me and make it fun for students.

Just like learning to write learning multiplication and memorizing the tables are building blocks to other math topic, such as, division, long multiplication, fractions, and algebra Students who have not yet mastered the facts will find these strands much more difficult then they really are.

Students who have not yet mastered the facts will fall behind in math early on and will have a difficult time for most of their schooling.
