This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help my students become multiplication masters!! My students need array flashcards to help them learn their multiplication facts!!

Many students aren’t memorizers.

When they are forced to memorize, and can’t do so successfully, they resort to guessing, which is unproductive and leads to frustration and failure.

These students need to use other strategies to help them successfully learn multiplication facts. Array flashcards take the pain and suffering out of having to memorize multiplication facts. These flashcards use visual models to develop students’ conceptual understanding of what multiplication means. Students can then focus on learning a counting pattern song to reach the answer.

Using the commutative property, students can write the second equation directly on the flashcards with the wet erase markers. Students will use the binder clips to keep the flashcards organized.

In previous years, my students have made their own array flashcards. While this was useful for their conceptual understanding, it took a tremendous amount of class time and resources.

Having a class set of pre-made, color-coded array flashcards will help my students learn their multiplication facts, while still allowing us to use class time and resources as efficiently as possible.
