This year my team and I are departmentalizing first grade at our Dual Immersion Elementary School. All first grade students rotate through 3 classes throughout the day - Literacy in Spanish, Math & Literacy in English (with me!).
To reach every student and to get them excited about the (sometimes) repetitive work of phonics instruction I am building centers to engage multiple learning styles and keep these kiddos excited about LEARNING TO READ!
Our students have access to Chromebooks, however, they are not the most age-appropriate tool to access technological tools and interact with online learning platforms. With access to an iPad, students will be able to easily use the many online platforms our school provides as well as use the Apple Pencil to write directly onto the screen - this can help with letter formation as well as phonics instruction.
Other engaging centers will provide students with tangible and tactile materials to build words, work with letters and have FUN! Wikki Stix for word-building, sandpaper letters for letter formation, Sticker Stories & more! Thank you for your support in helping to grow the next generation of bookworms!
