This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are passionate about learning. They are first graders that love to hear new stories. They are excited when I introduce new things into our classroom. When they get excited, it makes me excited. It inspires me to find new things for them to experience and enjoy.

When we work on a project, or start a new topic, my students love to share and participate in the class conversations.

I am encouraging a love of learning that I want them to take with them throughout their lives.

My Project

These books will help me create a student library that will allow my class to read stories that they can relate to and identify with. My class is Spanish Dual Language (English/Spanish). Our class/student library is outdated and not culturally relevant.

To find authentic texts in both languages is a treasure.

It is a positive affirmation for their young minds, when they read stories that are relevant to their lives. Stories and characters that they can see themselves in. These books will be used as read alouds, a lending library, and will create a community of readers when we share literary discussions about the characters, settings, and story events with one another. New fresh stories will make their reading time pleasurable and create lifelong readers.
