Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are multilingual learners.

My students are immigrants who have either just recently arrived to our country or have been here a little while longer and are learning the dynamics of American culture and language, while at the same time adjusting to their school.

These students are eager to learn and grow.

My Project

Having multicultural books in our library helps students understand the diversity in the classroom and in their school. Multicultural literature builds respect and an understanding of other cultures and race. Students also gain a better understanding of their own culture.

Reading these multicultural books helps students engage with the text.

Students can develop cultural sensitivity and understand global events and issues. Bringing multicultural books into an ENL classroom is especially important because these books show that children can have the same experiences and emotions no matter where they are in the world and what language they speak.
