My Project

My students love to read; however, they are learning to read, write, and speak English at the same time as learning their grade curriculum for English Language Arts. I have found through many years of teaching that providing students with a classroom library of multicultural literature, how-to, and cookbook selections that my students are encouraged to be more participatory in our class discussions regarding our readings in English.

Giving students more reading time with books of their choosing, increases literacy, understanding, and enthusiasm about our ELA curriculum topics.

This makes our classroom environment a more enjoyable and educational experience.
