Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My class is a third grade self-contained special education students in a high-need community. The school does not have a school library so my students are not able to borrow and exchange books. They also do not have a lot of books at home to read on their own. Therefore, their exposure to books is mainly in the classroom.

I have a wide range of special education students that read on a kindergarten to second grade level. I would like to create a multicultural classroom library in which I can incorporate literature that can appeal to my students interest. My students are enthusiastic learners and will appreciate a learning atmosphere which can help them to feel comfortable with literature being read.

I can only imagine how enthusiastic my students will be to use this multicultural literature. They will need a lot of books on various cultures as well as books on tape and videos.

With your help, you can make it possible by providing the resources needed to ensure that my students will have these literature. Thank you for your interest in my proposal.
