My Project
This project will help give my fifth grade student access to more multicultural books in their classroom library. Not only will they read these books independently, I will also use them as whole-class teaching material for larger units related to different identities. This includes using the books during Heritage Month lessons such as Black History Month, Pride Month, Native and Indigenous History Month, AAPI Month, etc.
Students need to see themselves represented in the books they are reading, and this project will give them the materials to make that possible.
