Our Montessori Lower Elementary classroom is part of a public K-12 charter school. Students in our class come from a richly diverse background and they truly enjoy learning and harnessing their understanding of being citizens of the Universe. The multi-age classroom of children ages 6-9 makes for a beautiful dance of learning, mentorship, and community building. Third graders love to mentor the younger students, and the younger students look up to the older students as leaders. It creates a wonderful sense of community and encourages students to think outside themselves for the good of all.
Children in our class enjoy having the knowledge of the Universe at their fingertips and discovering how we are all interconnected.
The light of imagination, wonder, and understanding through their learning is palpable! Students in our classroom are tactile learners, problem solvers, global citizens, critical thinkers, and genuinely caring spirits. They have a love for learning because they are able to, quite literally, put their learning in their own hands.
My Project
A love for books is fostered at an early age, and a love for reading begins in the lower elementary grades. While some of the younger students in our Montessori Lower Elementary class (grades 1-3) are not quite reading fluently, it doesn't stop them from picking up a good book or two!
By donating to our project, you'll be giving the gift of multicultural storybooks to our first through third grade readers.
These classic and culturally representative stories will help to fuel their love for reading for many years to come.
