My Project

As a speech-language pathologist, I work with students who have special needs. Many of our students are non-speaking, emotional, and significantly struggling with peer relationships and overall academic performance.

My neuro-divergent students thrive when they are engaged in high-interest, multi-sensory activities.

This promotes a language rich environment with multiple opportunities for practicing social skills and speech.

A Little Spot of Emotion books are a great way to talk about the feelings in our body and how to respond to those feelings. I am also requesting cause and effect toys such as Burping Bobby and Pop the Pig, which are highly engaging. Finally, when the children feel safe in speech, they are more motivated to work toward achieving their goals. Thus, I reward my students with prizes and praise for positive behaviors.
