Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When daily moments are overwhelming, access to sensory tools with emphasis on color lights and fine motor skills will help regulate student emotions and allow them to (extend their) focus on learning. Multi-sensory support will remove barriers and ignite long term excitement in my classroom. For example, bubbles, moldable materials (playdoh, sand), and lights seem to be a creative source of tranquil fascination. Dry erase files and calendar holders will support students' writing and reading skills. Hence, access to these items will be incredibly helpful for my students who are just starting schooling in their young lives.

The project goal will be to reimagine special education in low-income communities.
