Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing first and second graders in an inner city school in Boston. They are eager hard working kids who really love learning! Each day they come to school excited to learn how to read with me in the reading room! These are great kids at a great school who sincerely appreciate your support for their education.

My Project

The materials we've requested will support our 1st and 2nd-grade learners as they learn how to read and write. We will be teaching our struggling readers using a multi-sensory approach to learning phonics. We will use the sand and trays to provide a fun and effective way to learn new letters and sounds by tracing letters into the sand. The bumpy sheets will help with writing using our fingers and crayons for sensory feedback. Having materials to use both in school and at home will be so helpful for our scholars!
