This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have been a special education teacher in the Bronx for 20 years. The proposal I seek is to fund a program that integrates multi-sensory activities into the educational experience of students with special needs. I want to create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment that caters to the diverse sensory needs of students in my classroom. I work with a population of students who are mostly English Language learners in addition to being diagnosed with disabilities that require more hands-on activities to help them learn and engage with the curriculum. With these materials, I want to engage students in the learning process, as well as enhance cognitive, emotional, and physical development through hands-on, sensory-rich experiences. The sensory tables and games will give us the opportunity to teach letters, numbers, shapes, etc by using different sensory activities.
