Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at our school are dreamers, they dream of attending high performing high schools and want to succeed in achieving their academic goals.

Our students are driven and self-motivated learners, dedicated to achieving their dreams, with a passion for creating and self expression.

In my art room, students create artwork that is reflective of those dreams. Students create art that explores their own cultures and experiences as well as their peers. It is a positive learning environment that has grown and flourished due to my students respect towards one another and their mutual love for art in all forms.

My Project

At the start of the pandemic there was so much uncertainty. I worried about things like whether students would be able to afford materials that we put on our material lists or whether they would be engaged. Many of our students remained virtual during this school year, and they were limited to materials that they had at home. I would discuss with them various art forms and processes, but they were just that: discussions. They never got the chance to experience the fun of hands-on learning.

By donating to this project you will give students the chance to experience a variety of art forms and expand their understanding and appreciation of art past our little classroom in Texas.

My students will be able to create Suminagashi water marbling in the Japanese style, not just imagine the process. They will explore the style of European Renaissance paintings by painting one themselves and not just talking about it. They will study the portraits of Latin American artists and paint one of their own. My student's love for art and creative expression has persevered during these difficult times, this donation will help continue that love for learning that they so fiercely have.
