My Project

My goal is to give every student the opportunity to learn how to work on their mental and physical health through games, group interventions and one on one interactive talks. Being a Physical Education teacher, students tend to talk to me about conflicts going on in and out of school. For example, when students come to my office to seek counsel I would love to give them a Care Bear and a journal to use for the day. They can write thier feelings as they come up and what feeling was associated with it, and then where the feeling was felt in their body. Once they can do this then they can write how it was released, if it was at all. Then when returning to school we can talk about it. The purple rug will be a place to sit for their meeting. This is only one of the ways I will engage with my students to help them manage their well being.

This non traditional setting will allow students to speak and play freely without hesitation.

Students will practice applying the tools they learn in day to day activities and gather once a week to see how it is helping them improve their life.
