My Project

Collaborative thinking and social-emotional navigation are concepts that we deal with every day in my classroom. Many of my students come from a variety of backgrounds and have experienced things we couldn't even dream of which is why I make it my priority to make sure that my classroom is a safe space. We try to make sure that our students can have all the materials and resources possible because there is no guarantee that they are being provided by the school or family.

We try to emphasize ownership of learning as a means to build student's confidence and management of responsibility.

By allowing them to have their own supplies and have access to resources to help them process their emotions, we create a calm and structured learning environment where students will thrive.

The pens, highlighters, sticky notes, scissors, and colored pencils make sure that all my students have their own pencil case full of materials so that they can actively participate in lessons and take ownership of their learning. The easel pad helps us with our anchor charts and with group thinking so that everyone's voice is heard and represented. Lastly the aromatherapy diffuser, Spot Feelings book set, and bulletin board are for our cool down corner so students can identify and express their feelings and take a moment to collect themselves.
