My Project

The students I have the pleasure and honor of teaching are smart, kind, energetic, motivated, and loving.

Out of all of the students at our school, the students I work with require a range of support from a behavioral, social, emotional, and cognitive perspective.

They receive special education services to meet them at their ability levels to ensure they are happy, safe, and successful at school.

My students will be in kindergarten through fifth grade and differ in ability levels. They are deeply curious learners from various cultural backgrounds within a very strong community. They need the utmost support as they are all learning at different paces, on different grade-levels, and with vast learning and behavioral needs. They live in a very low-socioeconomic neighborhood in Harlem, New York and receive free breakfast, lunch, and after-school snacks. To accommodate their academic, social emotional, sensory, and daily living needs, we need your help! The supplies I am asking for are geared toward daily necessities from classroom decor (bulletin board boarders, construction paper, notebooks, learning games) to make their learning environment bright, to sensory materials like noise canceling headphones and essential oiler diffuser, and everything in between! I also have included different items that will assist me in creating differentiated and modified materials for their learning such as paper, adhesives, labels, and ink. You will notice there are items to ensure my room is clean (wipes, paper towels), especially since I will not have easy access to a sink this year. Aside from working in small groups, my room will often feel like a safe haven for many students who need a break from their classroom which is why I have included snacks and other materials to support them and help regulate them based on individual needs.
