Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in the South Bronx in New York. My students come from varied ethnic backgrounds and races, but all in the same neighborhood.

I am the IEP Coordinator of a 6th grade-12th grade school and work with our Special Education Department.

We strive in creating a Special Education Department that fully supports our students academically and socially, and we are preparing them for a future that includes college and career.

With your help, we can be better prepared to support them.

My Project

As a STEM school, Science is a fundamental class. We are grades 6-12, so our science materials get used....a lot! With all this awesome Science happening, our supplies get worn and used. We are not always provided with the funding to get new supplies.

One of the most fun labs is learning to use a microscope.

Students love being able to see microscopic organisms! Microscopes are not only used in labs, but they are preparing our students for the 8th grade state test, Earth Science Regents, and Living Environment Regents. Our students are active learners, who are motivated to learn. We should be able to supply them with the materials to help them succeed!
