This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My students are in grades PK4 - 2nd and they love hands-on activities that keep them engaged and motivated throughout our sessions. I provide speech therapy services to a large range of students with a variety of communication difficulties, from students who struggle to produce certain speech sounds to students who are non-verbal communicators.
This will be my first year a my school, and my students and I would love to have access to new toys and materials to keep speech therapy fun and engaging!
I am requesting a variety of toys that will serve as motivators during our sessions, such as Play Doh, Feed the Woozle (one of my favorites!), dry erase rolling blocks, crayons, building blocks, pop-its, stickers, and clip and create builders, as well as hands-on toys that will assist with building phonemic awareness, such as alphabet Play Doh mats and Wikki Stix. Additionally, I am requesting a few items that will aid my students in self-monitoring during speech (mirror, visual timer), and some additional items that I need to make my classroom more functional (set of drawers, cleaning supplies, manila folders).
Overall, these items will be a huge help in my classroom and will really make a difference in the quality of therapy for my students. I have specifically searched for toys and games that are appropriate for the variety of age and developmental levels that I see for speech. I am extremely appreciative of any donation, thank you!
