My Project

Hello! My name is Robin Klos, and I am an incoming first year teacher! Before I explain my classroom's need for my listed resources, let me tell you a little about myself. I have known that I wanted to teach special education for nearly a DECADE, since I was in 8th grade. Now, at 22 years old, I am beyond excited and thankful to be teaching in my very first classroom!

Now, onto the supplies.

You might think that there doesn't seem to be a theme or vision in the items I have chosen, however these are some of the bare-minimum basics that I will not be able to afford as a first year teacher. Because I will be teaching special education, my students will have some exceptional needs that a typical school setting might not account for. For example, overhead fluorescent lights can already be irritating for a neurotypical student, however to a student with exceptional sensory needs, they can make it nearly impossible to focus, making an alternate form of lighting (such as a floor lamp) necessary. My students will also likely prefer alternate forms of seating to the classic desk chair. Some will want to stand, some will want to jump, and some will want to do something completely different. In my hunt for alternate seating, I found bean bags, but they are unfilled, hence the filling on my list. My school has generously provided me with a printer as well, however it seems ink is hard to come by. Having my classroom printer stocked with ink will ensure that I can print any curriculum or materials that my students need, without having to leave my room.
