Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a speech therapist in both an elementary school, and middle school. My students have a wide range of needs when it comes to academic support. My students often require extra support in the areas of reading, writing, social language, vocabulary, processing information and all other communication needs. I meet with the students one on one or in small group settings to meet their goals. Goals often include improving decoding CVC and sight words for reading and comprehension.

My students are smart and curious and a lot of fun to work with.

Many of the supplies I requested can be use to directly target these goals. They may also receive support from me in the classroom. I have requested craft items to be able to create adaptive books for my younger students who have limited vocabularies. My students are motivated by earning speech points to collect stickers and prizes. Lakeshore games are the best way for my students to improve their comprehension skills ranging from 2nd-5th grade.
