My Project

Hello. My name is Ms. McKee, and I am a Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS1). My degree allows me to provide special education services to students with learning disabilities until the age of 22. I always said that if I had not gone to school for special education, that I would have wanted to teach high school math. Luckily, I was able to find my first full time teaching position as a special education math teacher. I teach 6 sections of 5 classes (PreAlgebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and a Resource Class). I also have 17 students on my caseload this year that I will provide case management for, including writing their Individualized Education Plans. I absolutely love my job. I started teaching in January and have found that I am exactly where I am meant to be. Many of my students live at poverty level and are not able to buy supplies for every one of their classes. I am creating this account to help alleviate some of the cost of supplies to families and myself, as well as including some items that I believe will help engage and entertain my students in a subject that many of them struggle with. For example, I have requested a gumball machine with plastic containers to create a fun extra credit experience for them. My plan is that once a student has completed an extra credit assignment, that they will be able to "buy" an extra credit incentive such as a homework pass, extra points, a treat, etc. determined by the machine. There are also fidgets to help my students with ADHD keep their hands busy while they focus. Other items are included so that they are in an organized, safe, aesthetic environment. Every bit helps!
