My Project

These items will be used to create a calming corner in my classroom for my students who need a place to reset and just be. I am a psychology teacher and often students use my room as a place to just come and be. Students today are expected to wear so many hats and it is taking a toll on their mental health. If I can offer a place for them to come and just not think about the many things on their minds for a little bit, I would love to provide that for them.

I believe having a special place in my room that is just for students and being mindful will really help students take a moment for themselves in their busy chaotic day.

The bean bag chairs provide comfortable seating. I never turn the lights on in a room and have accent lighting, a wax melter, and plants to set the vibe. Having a place to put some of the mindful things I have (coloring books, markers, mindfulness cards, etc) will allow for all these things to be in one space, easy to find.
