FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Savery's classroom raised $207

My Students
The students in my class have been identified as Gifted and Talented and is the only class of this nature on the grade. We are located within a diverse neighborhood school. Many of my students are first generation Americans. Their families come from all over the world and many of my students only speak English in school. Our school is a Title I school, where the majority of our students receive free or reduced price lunch. As a result, funds are limited for classroom supplies, especially technology. The school has over 1,300 students.
My students love to learn!
They enjoy learning through books and hands-on projects. My students have "Choice Time" where they have the opportunity to self-direct their own learning by choosing an activity in Writing, Science, Math, Reading, and Social Studies.
My Project
My students look forward to "Choice Time" every Friday where they can investigate subjects that interest them. This project will give my students opportunities to explore other topics and expand their knowledge.
The Science and Social Studies Centers in my classroom need an improvement.
During this past year, I have purchased magnets, crystals, rocks, and "Around the World" finger puppets to support these two centers in my classroom. However, more supplies are needed to create the enriching "Choice Time" experience that my students crave and desire.
The Simple Machines Kit will allow my students to investigate how these machines are built using minimal supplies and how they've stood the test of time. The Wildflowers Field Guide will help my students better understand nature and become more observant of the world around them.
Finally, the Primary Source Documents and President Comprehension Cards will allow my students to discover the past and comprehend how certain people played a pivotal role in shaping today's world.
The students will be able to use these materials to engage their curiosity and quench their thirst for knowledge!
