Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A classroom economy is something I implemented last school year. We used fake money to learn how to save and make spending decisions throughout the school year. Students learned how to pay rent, keep track of their "money", earn and get fined. Students were able to spend their earned money every Friday on a variety of things such as the classroom store, lunch in the classroom, class party, etc. The most popular was the classroom store. The challenge was to keep it stocked with items they wanted such as cool pencils, snacks, and fidgets.
My goal is to give my students a more effective classroom store with items they want and a purposeful lesson on supply and demand.
The bins will help with organizing the items being requested for our classroom economy store.
Majority of my students are low income and often don't get to experience real world senarios to learn from often or at all. I strive to bring the real world to them so they get as much of these experiences before they get into the real world. My students love this part of our classroom and love the hands on learning environment.
