My Project

These specific items are items that we are currently running low on in the dairy barn and are either desperately needed or would make a great addition to our routines. For example, biohazard containers are for when we are vaccinating cattle and need to dispose of biohazard waste. It is very important that I lead by example, and dispose of these in the proper receptacles. We also need new shovels to help maintain a clean space for our cattle, and the safe De-Icing liquid to prevent any cattle from slipping.

Goal: Develop a detailed list of essential livestock management supplies for a classroom setting.

Goal: Ensure that the supplies selected support hands-on learning and help teach students about livestock care.

Goal: Select supplies that help maintain the health and safety of both the animals and students.

Goal: Choose supplies that are durable, easy to clean, and cost-effective for a classroom setting.

My students will gain practical, real-world experience that connects to what they learn in textbooks. They don’t just read about animal care—they actually do it. This hands-on learning fosters responsibility, accountability, and a sense of duty, which is essential for their growth both as students and as individuals. They learn how to care for living beings, understanding the time, effort, and dedication it takes to maintain healthy animals, which teaches them patience and empathy. Managing livestock requires a strong work ethic. Students have to wake up early, feed animals, clean pens, monitor health, and troubleshoot problems as they arise. They quickly learn how to handle the unexpected—whether it’s an animal getting sick or equipment breaking down. This develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will serve them in countless aspects of their lives.
