This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As an urban educator, you see daily how many student struggle to have their basic needs met. A large majority of my students are below the poverty level and experience the effects of that poverty while at school.

Some of the things that they need the most they just aren’t able to get and when that happens, they tend to act out.

With my care closet, I am able to help remedy some of those issues and give them a safe, supportive place to go to when they need things at school. I started a basic one last year and it was a huge success. I’m known as the teacher who almost always has what someone needs when they need it. With this project, I would like to do and expand that mission and passion even more.
