My Students

Our students come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. My co-teacher, Mrs. Veljacich and I teach in an integrated co-teaching 2nd grade classroom with students with diverse needs. Our students worlds changed when they were in kindergarten due to the pandemic. We want to support their transitions back into school as 2nd graders and continue to grow their love for reading, writing and math. In addition, we want to support our students social emotional learning.

To support our students and their different needs and learning levels, it is important to have differentiated materials and instruction.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!

They are truly an incredible group and we are truly inspired by their resilience and flexibility this last year. We are lucky to have this new group of students to grow and learn with!

My Project

Mrs. Veljacich and I chose items to support our learners at all levels and in all subjects. The books, phonemic awareness activities, magnatiles and the other items will support students in creativity and learning. In our classroom, we want to increase academics as well as social emotional learning. Giving students a chance for creativity and teamwork will support these aspects of growth. In addition, the use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in our classroom, throughout the whole day. The whiteboards allow us to see exactly what they are thinking and feeling, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work!
