Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Avid is a nationally recognized college and career prep program and we are the only high school in our city that is Avid certified. Avid students track their data, volunteer for surrounding elementary schools and the community, fundraise, and participate in weekly tutorials to push themselves academically. They are committed to college or trade schools and are prepared to stay in Avid all four years of high school.

Avid is a teacher and student funded program in our school and our students are very low income.

Students are required to fundraise and pay out of pocket for their shirts, binders, materials, trips and gifts for the upper class students.

I am requesting classroom supplies including headphones, composition notebooks, colored pencils, scissors, board games, and hygiene products. I want to be able to provide most of their study materials as well as student selected games and activities. Everything on the list has been chosen by students based on their Avid needs or their interests. Students will use these resources in their daily learning and practice.
