My Students

I teach second grade at a public school located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, New York. I have the cutest group of children. They are all so special in their own special ways. We are a Title I school, and most of the children come from low-income, non-English speaking homes. Many of them come to school just to have a meal and someone to actually care about them.

Things we often take for granted are often hard for my students to get.

I'm looking for ways for the children to get a better understanding and a love for school, and reading.

My Project

Remote learning has put many challenges at home. One thing that my students always tell me all the time is that they have don't have any books at home, and with libraries being closed due to COVID-19, it makes it more difficult for them to read books at home.

I want the children to have their own books at home.

These are new books that I know they will enjoy reading. These books will be for them to take home and leave the books at home. In case the school suddenly shuts down, like it has three times already, they will be all set with their own books.
