My Project

I am so excited to be trying this NEW and EXCITING way to keep my students organized in math this year. Eighth grade is a huge year in terms of learning foundational skills they will need in high school, so I have always felt it was important to create something throughout the year students can take with them. Up until recently, we did interactive notebooks and they are great. However, I am always on the lookout for new and creative ideas that I think will benefit our kids. That is how I came across the Binder System!

Each student will get a binder!

Some students will be able to afford their own binders; however I will have students that will need one provided and I want to make sure they don't feel left out starting day one! The binder system requires each student to have a binder and dividers. Each student will get to decorate a paper to slip in the cover of the binder to make it their own and the dividers will be labeled for notes, assignments, graded papers, tests, and other so that students can have a place to keep EVERYTHING we do throughout the year. I will also be giving students cardstock that I already have to separate the notes by unit. We will be doing this in both Math 8 and Algebra 1. That way students can take this binder, with all their work, to the next grade level and look back on it if they ever need any help! I am looking forward to starting this system this year and I know the kids will benefit from, not only being able to take their math notes with them to high school, but learning the organizational skills that will come along with creating the binder!
