My Project

Every student needs a place that they can go throughout the school day where they can unwind and relax. Mrs. M's Zen Den is the perfect place where students can go to help them regulate their emotions and take a break if they need to. Mindfulness is so important to kids and this room will help them become more aware of their feelings and behaviors throughout the day. Flexible seating is an essential tool for those students who need a change from traditional seating to help them calm down and relax. Children need to move. Flexible seating such as these floor seats and wobble cushions allow them to wobble, bounce, rock, lean and stand which helps keep young minds more focused and alert throughout the day.

Help me create a calming and peaceful place which will support all students in increasing their social and emotional well being.

The canopy will be placed in the corner along with the bean bag so that children can go sit if they need to calm down and lay for a few minutes. The floor chairs will help the students who prefer to not sit in a traditional chair. The stool is a great option for those students who struggle with sitting still for an extended period of time. It is adjustable and wobbles for those students who need constant movement throughout their day. The floor discs is another option for students who prefer to sit on the floor but can now have a comfortable seat while doing so.

I am so excited for this new project and I know that once my Zen Den is complete that it will benefit many students.
