My Project

I am a first year teacher and I am trying to equip my room with items that will encourage a positive learning environment for my diverse learners. Some of my kindergarteners will come to school with preschool experience while others will arrive to a brand new setting with brand new expectations.

Flexible seating is one way I can make the kindergarten learning environment positive and engaging.

By offering different types of seats I can meet the needs of students who need a little room to wiggle around as well as those who are able to sit and focus.

The flexible seating will be used in a variety of ways in the room, but most importantly, it will be used as needed to best support the students. The wobble chairs and chair bands will be available to any student who needs to wiggle in order to remain focused on the lesson. The floor seating will be used primarily to create a book nook to encourage students to develop a love of reading. The stools will be used for the technology center and the teacher table, but if a student is more comfortable on a stool than a student chair, they will be allowed to use a stool at their desk.
