The use of our reading area is an everyday activity in my classroom. Students come to the carpet to learn (whole- group) letters, sounds, and new reading strategies. The chairs allow students to have a comfortable reading area in our classroom where they can enjoy reading with a friend. The smaller markers and pencils allow students to work on their grasp when learning to write. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last and small pencils require a special sharpener. When something goes awry, students know that they must leave their work area quietly to get a new marker or new pencil.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to create a fun and inviting learning environment, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement and grow their love for reading!
Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not on whether their materials are going to work or not. With the world revolving around technology, I would love to make reading physical books a fun experience in my classroom!
