My Students

My students come to school to learn. They look for and desire to explore books. My students are beginning to learn the wonderful experiences a good book can offer.

I teach in a Title I school where 100% of the school is on free lunch.

My students live in a high poverty area. Access to literacy begins and ends within the school walls. There are many things they will never be able to experience in real life that a book can offer. Please help me expose them to as many experiences as I can.

My Project

My students need books in our classroom library like Clifford, Henry and Mudge, and Pete the Cat series. Reading can introduce a whole new world to a 1st grader. They are beginning to make connections between the words on the page to the pictures in a book. There is nothing more exciting than a child who's learning is sparked by literature.

Reading and having these new books in our classroom will help my students to realize their dream of reading and open them up to a new world in literacy.

They will realize that literature becomes knowledge that can not be taken away!
