My Students

I work in a Philadelphia public school in East Germantown. The parents of my students often struggle dressing and feeding their children let alone worrying about school supplies. I use my own money each year to buy supplies to benefit home and school. My Kindergarteners each day seek loving, warm, safe and nurturing environments. They need to gain trust in order to even begin the learning process. The last thing on my mind is to burden these families with monetary school supplies.

My Project

These are everyday supplies, pencils, glue, etc which my kiddos cannot afford and I supply out of pocket. This also includes several activities I can use in math and literacy centers to enhance independent learning so I can more easily work with small groups to target individual growth and development in their academics. At the kindergarten level my goal is to instill the love of learning aside from academic growth and accomplishments. Kindergarten is a critical stage in learning to set a strong base in place to carry them through.
