My Students

My kindergarten students learn best through hands on activities. The supplies I have requested will allow them to work independently and keep them engaged in their learning. Through these activities my students will build skills with sentence formation along with reinforcing phonics skills.

I teach kindergarten at a Title I elementary school.

I currently have 17 students who love to learn! Our school is very small and I am a first year teacher. With all of those things said, funding for my students and my classroom is basically non-existent. With your help, my students will be able to meet the common-core standards and have fun along the way!

My Project

The materials I have requested will be very well loved in our classroom! My students love puzzles and they love to do hands-on activities! That is why these materials will be wonderful. The locks will be used during our readers' workshop time. The students will use the locks to practice their sounds and practice matching CVC words to a picture. Being able to do these things will help my students be ready for reading. The sentence set I am asking for will be used during both readers' workshop and writers' workshop. Students will have a chance to work on matching the words to the card in order to build a sentence describing the picture. This will help students meet common core standards by helping students understand sentence formation, punctuation, and having writing that matches or describes a picture.

This project will make a difference in my room by providing my students the materials they need on their individual level to help them meet common core standards for literacy.

The materials will also provide students activities that will keep them engaged, allowing them to work hands-on, and help them build/reinforce the skills they need to become better readers and writers.
